Ashley Lubyk: "Regenerative Design and Development"
This session will introduce the emerging concept of regenerative design and development as it relates to the built environment. The discussion will explore how regenerative design differs from sustainable design, various strategies and frameworks that can be deployed to maximize the regenerative potential of a project, and some of the challenges associated with actualizing regenerative projects. Case studies from the region will be explored to demonstrate the application of regenerative principles at the building level. Topics covered will include living buildings, net-positive energy, net-positive water, and healthy materials.
Ashley is a full-time professor in Okanagan College’s Sustainable Building Technology program, a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC), and the co-director of the Green Construction Research & Training Centre (GCRTC) – a collaborative and multi-disciplinary research and training hub between the University of British Columbia and Okanagan College.
